Philosophy

Our goal is to promote health and fitness among our readers.   We aim to cut through all of the bull and flim-flam you see being purported out there as shortcuts to fat loss and getting in shape.  Be wary of magic weight loss pills that promise unrealistic results in a short time and even worse may be bad for your health.  Remain skeptical of exercises that claim to get you fit with a minimum of effort.

We are seeking to improve our readers general fitness not a particular area at the expense of others.  We are not interested in creating a specialized program for a bodybuilder, marathoner or powerlifter.  What we are seeking is the kind of real world fitness that comes from being well rounded.  The list below illustsrates the five commonly accepted measures of fitness. 

Health Related Components of Physical Fitness
  1. Cardiovascular Fitness-ability of heart & lungs to supply oxygen throughout your body.
  2. Body Composition- percentages of body fat, muscle, bone etc.
  3. Flexibility- range of motion around a particular joint.
  4. Muscular strength- ability of a muscle to contract with maximum force.
  5. Muscular endurance- ability of a muscle to repeatedly contract with force. 
The type of fitness that we advocate seeks to increase each of these while not focusing on one in particular.
